Seeing an opportunity to attract disgruntled Brits to up sticks and move to Canada, the Canadian government has recently sent a high ranking minister, Hector Goudreau, to the UK to do a spot of recruitment. The soaring price of oil and general living expenses has left more and more Brits considering their migration options.
Speaking of the attractions available to skilled workers, Mr Goudreau said, “Somebody from London might be able to sell their small flat and come to Alberta where they can buy a detached house with a huge back yard and huge front yard for the same amount. The cost of living is considerably less than in the UK. Our salaries are comparable or even higher, so anyone who moves over would be able to make money and set some aside.”
He also made note of the Canadian government’s intention to fast track visas which could fill shortages in the most dire areas of labour shortfalls, particularly doctors, nurses, teachers, electricians, construction workers, engineers, carpenters and joiners, management consultants and cardiac and diabetes experts.
